It is with heartfelt thanks and appreciation for his many contributions that we announce the retirement of Francois Grobler as buildingSMART International Technical Chairman and member of the Executive Committee.
Francois has held a number of key positions in buildingSMART since our founding, including Technical Chairman of buildingSMART North America, International Technical Management (ITM) Chair and founding Chair of techCOM for the last five years.
He also recently retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers Research Center in Champaign, Illinois USA, where he served as Senior Research Civil Engineer since 1992
Francois has been an outstanding leader through extremely challenging phases of buildingSMART and is well-regarded for his ability to harmonize different voices – making room for many opinions and then working for consensus.
In summary, Francois is a well-respected leader for his ability to work across national boundaries and diverse opinions to advance the buildingSMART mission as the Home of openBIM.
He has truly earned a place in the buildingSMART family and is an inspiration to everyone. All of us in buildingSMART wish Francois well in his retirement.
