International Council meeting in Paris June 16 and 17 agrees new leadership model and commits chapters and buildingSMART International to define closer working relationships.
50 Leaders representing 14 of our 16 Chapters attended the International Council meeting in Paris and Chapter Workshop. These were important meetings designed to build on the Operating Vision agreed in 2014.
The workshop was supported by critical input from key government clients; Plan de Transition Numérique dans le Bâtiment from France and the Digital Built Britain program from the UK and our Strategic Advisory members AutoDesk and Nemetschek Group.
The meeting made two strategically important decisions. A new board is being introduced to strengthen the strategic leadership of buildingSMART as a whole and buildingSMART International and the Chapters have agreed to define how to work together for maximum effect.
Following the meeting Richard Petrie Chief Executive commented:
This was an important meeting. We have strategically strengthened our governance and operational leadership capability by introducing a new dedicated board. This new board will assist the strategic development of buildingSMART while the Management Executive team can now focus on the operational delivery. I am delighted to have these extra resources supporting our development at this critical time.
Leveraging the benefits of a strong centre and the extensive international network of Chapter is a unique opportunity and value generating opportunity for buildingSMART. I am excited by the prospect of defining how we work together clearly in a Chapter Charter. I fully expect that this will also lead to a clearer definition of our User Program as we go forward.
Commenting on the workshop Richard noted that the support from the government clients and strategic members had been of tremendous value and that all those present had greatly appreciated the presentations.
